Last seen 06/25/2017 Sunday between 6pm – 630pm. Shawn went to his mom’s house for dinner about 6:00 P.M. He told his mom he wasn’t going back to the river without a cell phone in case anything happened that he needed to call 911, or have his mom call 911. About 6:30 P.M. he took his mom’s cell phone and went back to camping on riverbank at the Grand Chain Lodge & Campground located at 495 Lighthouse Lane in Grand Chain, Illinois.
The next day his father went to pick him up for a scheduled Dr’s appointment when he saw that Michael was gone but his things were left behind. His father contacted Michael’s mother, who then called Michael’s cousin Marlena. When they realized this was unlike Michael, Marlena contacted the police.
The family then called friends that also had four-wheelers to go to the campsite with their four-wheelers to search the area. They found his shoes.
His shoes were floating in drift wood in the river. The ATV was found with the key still in the ignition.
His phone, his tablet and wallet were all found in his tent.
He had 2 cell phones his and his moms. His phone had no minutes he used his phone for the contacts. Both of these phones were found at the campsite.
Michael had been recently diagnosed with medical issue. At first the family thought Michael may have made that statement because he was having heart issues. This caused his depression.
Law Enforcement searched the river several times to no avail. Shawn remains missing.
